10 samples of Sambucus chinensis Lindl. were collected from different habitat and the quality control method was developed. Meanwhile, a method was described for determination of the content of 10 Luying Granule samples and 10 Luying Syrup samples.(1) A reversed phase HPLC method was developed for determination of Ursolic acid and Oleanolic acid in Luying preparations. Kromasil C18 column (200 mm × 4.6 mm i.d., 5μm) was used with the mobile phase being methanol-water (87:13) , detection wavelengh was at 210nm., flow rate was 1.0 mL·min-1. The Ursolic acid and Oleanolic acid calibration curves were linear at the ranges of 5.4μg·mL-1-86.4μg·mL-1 and 5.2μg·mL-1 -83.2μg·mL-1, the mean recovery of 101.0% (RSD=1.9%) for Ursolic acid, 99.6% (RSD=1.3%) for Oleanolic acid in Granule samples and 99.9% (RSD=1.4%) for Ursolic acid, 100.3% (RSD=1.1%) for Oleanolic acid in syrup samples were obtained, respectively. The assay method is simple, rapid and with good reproducibility and provide a quantitative basis for the quality control for Luying preparations.(2) Used gradient elution method, the 95% ethanol extract of Sambucus chinensis Lindl. was analyzed by chromatographic fingerprints. The HPLC chromatographic fingerprints of Sambucus chinensis Lindl. showing 19 common peaks, was established from 10 Sambucus chinensis Lindl. And the standard chromatographic fingerprint was obtained by Similarity evaluation system for chromatographic fingerprint of TCM. Similarity analysis was adopted to analyze data of HPLC fingerprints of Sambucus chinensis Lindl.. The similarity of the superior was more than 0.91. When unknown samples are analyzed by this method, identification, classification and assessment can be carried out by compared the similarity of standard samples with the unknown ones.
