BackgroundLaparoscopic procedure has the advantages of less injury and pain, rapid postoperative recovery, et al. It has been widely used in the diagnosis and treatment for clinical abdominal surgery as a new and advanced technology in recent 12 years. At present, it can be applied to the operation of abdominal organs. With the discovery of improved and innovative laparoscopic instruments, the accumulation of operative experiments and the enlarging range of surgery, new laparoscopic methods will show up constantly. From the development of laparoscopic clinical study on May 1993 in the department of general surgery of our hospital, 1324 cases had been finished till May 2005. To further investigate the clinical applying value of laparoscopic surgery, the clinical cases of cholecystits with calculus, polypus of galbllodder, appendicitis, colonic cancer, rectal cancer, hernia and splenic diseases treated by laparoscopic surgery (n=678) or open laparotomy (n=869) are selected to comparatively analyze the effect of laparoscopic therapy. ObjectiveBy collecting the treating cases of cholecystits with calculus, polypus of galbllodder, appendicitis, colonic cancer, rectal cancer, hernia and splenic diseases, two different treating methods, including laparoscopic surgery and open laparotomy, were compared and analyzed to evaluate the feasibility, effects and practicability of laparoscopy for the clinical application in the abdominal surgery.
