AIM:To explore the expression and significance of P-gp and LRP in Ampulla of Vater carcinoma. Try to make a reference for designing the therapeutic schedule and estimating the prognosis for the patients of Ampulla of Vater carcinoma. METHODS:P-gp and LRP expression of Ampulla of Vater carcinoma in 39 patients was studied with the methods of immunohistochemisty. 15 cases of normal Ampulla of Vater act as control group. The results was analysed by statistic methods. RESULTS:The positive expression of P-gp in Ampulla of Vater carcinoma was higher than in normal Ampulla of Vater(66.7%vs20%,P<0.01). The positive expression of LRP in Ampulla of Vater carcinoma was higher than in normal Ampulla of Vater(59.0% vs13.3% ,P<0.01).The expression of P-gp and LRP was negative correlation with sex, age, tumor size, clinical stages. The expression of P-gp was positive correlation with lymphatic metastasis(80.0% vs 42.9%,P<0.05). The expression of LRP was positive correlation with differentiation(77.8% vs 42.9%,P<0.05). The expression of P-gp and LRP in Ampulla of Vater carcinoma have not relativity (K=0.145 P> 0.05) .
