Objective: To investigate the anti-atherosclerosis effects of alcohol extractive of Folium Eucommiae (AEFE) and its possible mechanism through experimental atherosclerosis. Methods: In vivo, experimental atherosclerosis in rats was produced by feeding with atherogenic-diet and vitaminD3 administration ( 200,000 IU/kg by intraperitoneal injected on 3 successive days)for 8 weeks. 48 SD male rats were assigned to 6 groups randomly: 1.normal group(normal diet); 2.AS model group( atherogenic-diet); 3.AL group(atherogenic-diet and AEFE 70 mg·kg-1·d-1); 4.AM group( atherogenic-diet and AEFE 140 mg·kg-1·d-1); 5.AH group( atherogenic-diet and AEFE 420 mg·kg-1·d-1); 6.L group( atherogenic-diet and Lovastatin 4 mg·kg-1·d-1). AEFE or Lovastatin was given by gavage from the beginning of the third week to the end of experiment. Spatial learning and memory ability and pathological changes were investigated respectively . Then, the effects of different AEFE dosage and Lovastatin on the following parameters were evaluated by...
