The Applied Anatomy Of A Glenoid Fossa Approach In The Lateral Skull Base Surgery

[Objective] To study the related anatomy of a glenoid fossa approach -one of surgical approaches to the lateral skull base .[Methods] 5 adult head cadavers were dissected via mastoid-suboccipital-neck and glenoid fossa approach in order to definite the structures crossing the approach and the relations connected with each other; 53 adult cranium were measured the related anatomy of the structures in the lateral skull base.The obtained date can provide detailed anatomy references during the operation ,keep intact the brain nerves and blood vessel by definiting accurately positions of them.[Results] (1)The related anatomy of glenoid fossa :based on sagittal sections the length of lines linking the subpoint of zygomatic process to tympanomastoid fissure are : left 30.3 ± 2.3mm ,right 30.4 ± 2.4mm ; The length of lines linking the subpoint of processus retroarticularis to jugular fossa are : left 21.0±2.4mm ,right 20.1 ± 2.4mm ; The anteroposterior diameter of articular fossa of mandibular : the length of lines linking the subpoint of zygomatic process to processus retroarticularis are: left 18.0 ±2.0mm ,right 17.8 ± 1.9mm.(2) The structures adjoin glenoid fossa :the distances and angles from the starting point (subpoint of processus retroarticularis, tympanomastoid fissure)to the structures under lateral skull base (root of...
