Objective: To study the influence of diagnostic Color Doppler Flow Imaging (CDFI) on rat testicular germ cells apoptosis. Methods: There were two groups in all( I and II). In group I , thirty testes of male Spraque-Danles(SD) rats (40-44 days after birth, 195±10g) were sonicated by diagnostic CDFI (Sequoia512, 2D=13MHz, CD=10MHz, Pwr=0dB, MIcd=1. 4, Tis=0.9) and randomly divided into equal five subgroups according to the exposure time: 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min and control group( sham-exposed for 30min). In group II, thirty-six testes of male SD rats (40-44 days after birth, 195±10g) were sonicated by different-dosed diagnostic CDFI: the control group (the same as in group I ), TI=0(MI=0. 34) (groupA), TI=0. 2(MI=0. 74)(groupB),TI=0.4(MI=0.91) (gro -upC),TI=0.7(MI=1.2)(groupD),TI=0.9(MI=1.3)(groupE). All testes were removed by the time 24 hours after irradiation and HE Stain was done for microscopic observation; apoptosis was detected by in situ terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL); ultra-structural changes were observed by transmission electron microscope.RESULT: No statistical significance existed between 5min sonicated group, groupA, and control group(P>0. 05). Apoptosis cells in the other groups increased obviously compared with the control (P< 0.05). Of three cases drawn randomly in each group, the ultrastructural changes of the germ cells were observed by transmission electron microscope, which...
