Background and objectiveAsthma is a complex inflammatory disease characterized by variable airway hyperresponsiveness and airway inflammation. The initiation and maintenance of allergic airway inflammation is mediated by multiple mechanisms, many of which are not well undstood. The use of nonspecific inhibittors of inflammation, such as corticosteroid, indicates our lack of understanding of the specific mechanisms that initiate and maintain these reactions. Recently, neurogenic inflammation in airway which mediated by neuropeptide secreted by sensory nerve is being got attention .Substance P(SP) is an important sensory neuropeptide leading to neurogenic inflammation in airway. There is now convincing evidence that SP is an important neurotransmitters of the non-adrenergic non-cholinergic(NANC)excitatory nerves and has a close relationship with asthma. Substance P and neurokinin A are regulatory peptides of the tachykinin family that influence many aspects of human airway function in health and diseases such as bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive...
