The main duty of the doctor is to prevent rather than treat the disease. The prevention of the caries is significant not only to the dentin, periodontal tissue, and oral cavity, but also to the whole body. However the basis of the prevention of the caries is to learn the etiopathogenisis and the mechanism of it thoroughly. Among the four principle factors related to the caries, bacteria and the food are extremely uncertain and uncontrollable, thus methods fixed on the factor: host are more feasible. The mineral part of the tooth is the substrate of fluoride preparation. Though the quantity of the matrix in enamel is minor, it's the hot point for the researchers to study the function of the enamel matrix. It shows that the matrix is active in the process of enamel demineralization, and may have certain effect on the process. Related studies suggested that the inhibition of Chinese nutgall on enamel caries possibly due to its effect on enamel matrix. Thus the study is designed to learn the function of the enamel matrix in demineralization and the mechanism of the Chinese nutgall inhibiting enamel demineralization.
