| To date, clinical research for opiate drug dependence has focused on physiological dependence. Physiological detoxification and elimination of abstinence symptoms have been achieved through medication. However, the problem of dramatical, sometimes even compulsive, psychological craving has not been dealt with effectively. Modern research indicates that drug addiction is a serious social problem and a chronic recurrent drug-dependent brain disorder as well, which characterized by physiological and psychological dependence. Social studies have found that the main cause of relapse is psychological craving for drugs. Nucleus accumben(NAc) plays an important role. Selectively making lesion in it may cause the decrease of relapse and treat the disease.
