OBJECTIVES To investigate surgical treatment results and clinical specifics in the treatment of nonfunctional islet cell tumor.METHODS To perform retrospective analysis of 47 cases of nonfunctional islet cell tumor treated at Peking Union Medical College Cancer Hospital from January 1960 through June 2005 , and summarize clinical symptoms and signs, primary diagnosis before surgery, surgical treatment, pathologic specifics and immunohistological analysis.RESULTS There were 10 men and 37 women . The mean age at diagnosis was 37.62 ± 2.20 yr (range 12-70 yr). Of 47cases, 6 cases(12. 77%) was found in physical examinations, the most common symptoms was upper abdominal pain and upper abdominal discomfort, 57. 4%(27/47) and 55. 3%(26/47) respectively; the most common sign was abdominal masses 34% (16/47).
