Objective: Tubulointerstitial fibrosis (TIF) is a common pathological features of most end-stage kidney disease. The accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) resulting from the unbalance of synthesis and degradation is the main cause of TIF. So looking for drugs which can inhibit the progress of TIF through different pathway is of great significance. Adrenomedullin is a new peptide for streching blood vessel, The study in the new future show that ADM can suppress the stimulation of TGF β to synthesis and secretory of collagen. Shen Luo Tong is a basic formulla for chronic nephropathy, animal experiment also can confirm that it can adjust the deposit and degradate of ECM, but there is not enough evidence to confirm that it produce a marked effect by ADM pathway. The study was to investigate the effect of Shen Luo Tong and valsartan (a drug of ARB) in rats with unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) . The renal morpholog, transforming growth factor β1 (TGF β1) , collagenIII (ColIII) , adrenomedullin, adrenomedullin receptor were examined. Methods: Fourty female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups (n=10), Sham-operation...
