Objective: In our country, the morbidity and mortality of esophageal carcinoma and cardiac carcinoma are higher than that of the others, lymph node metastasis is recognized as the most important factor influencing patients' prognosis. Researches on the rules of lymph node metastasis caused by esophageal and cardiac carcinoma, and the evaluations on cases of patients' lymph node metastasis are more than with profound and important meaning, they can also help to select optimistic treatment scheme, increase survival rate and curative effect in the long run and improve quality of patients' living. Study of shrinkage rules of resected specimens from esophageal and cardiac carcinoma is of clinical guiding significance as to the research of proper resecting length and radiotherapy scope of esophageal carcinoma.Method: From Aug., 2004 to Jan., 2005, finished collecting full version of clinical materials and postoperative specimens out of 34 cases of carcinoma of thoracic esophagus and 31 cases of cardiac carcinoma as per choice standard.
