Objective: Hepatic fibrosis is a wound healing process that the fibrous tissue deposit excessively in liver when they are stimulated by the inflammation and necrosis. It is characterized by the excessive production and deposition of extracellular matrix components. Hepatic fibrosis is the early stage of hepatic cirrhosis, and the only way to it. In recent years, many people began to recognize that hepatic fibrosis may be reversible after the appropriate therapy. So we should be in progress at early stage of hepatic fibrosis of patients with chronic hepatitis, in order to prevent or reverse the pathological progress of hepatic fibrosis. Up to date, there is no effective way to treat hepatic fibrosis by western medicine. But the use of Chinese medicinal herbs to prevent hepatic fibrosis is an active and promising new field. Currently, a great quantity of empirical studies have indicated that the drug for invigorating blood circulation and eliminating stasis—Yigan kang Decoction which was studied by Professor Yao Xixian is effective to treat hepatic fibrosis.
