Objectives: Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA)is a kind of chronic, systemic, and autoimmune disease. Its histopathologic feature is synovitis, the synovium swelling, effusion and infiltration of mononuclear cells in acute phase and synovium hyperplasia, cartilage absorption, osteal demolishment and fibrosis in chronic phase. Many research have indicated that a lot of inflammatory cells such as lymphocyte, neutrophile leukocytic, macrophage and synovial cell induced the abnormal cellular immunity and humoral immunity which conduced the local joints and systematic immunity dysfunction, all these are very important in the pathologic development of RA. Yet the etiology of RA is still unclear. Recently years, with the development of neuro-immune-endocrine theory, the function of Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis(HPAA) are paid more attention than before. The adjuvant arthritis of rats induced by complete freund's adjuvant are widely considered having a similar pathologic change in arthritis compared to RA, so our study is to use this model to research the dynamic expression of ACTH and IL-6 in the serum and synovium of AA in rats and discuss the possible effect of the neuro-immune-endocrine net in RA.
