Chapter 2: clinical researchObjectiveTo investigate the clinical result of Traditional ChineseMedicine-Jianpihuayu on the recurrence and metastasis of hepatocellularcarcinoma after hepatectomy.MethodsCollecting the patients of 164, who have been completely operated onhepatocellular carcinoma in 2000-2005 years, and observing the varieties ofthe survival rate and the recurrent rate within 1, 2, 3 and 5 years, CHILDratings on hepatic functions, ICGR15, AFP, AFU and TSGF between the groups ofTraditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu and the groups of pure surgicaloperation.ResultsThe survival rate and the recurrent rate in the groups of Traditional ChineseMedicine -Jianpihuayu respectively was 82.93%, 76.83%;63. 41%, 51.22% and74.39%, 62.20%;41.46%, 37. 80% within 1, 2, 3 and 5 years, whereas 80.49%,71. 95%;51. 22%, 39. 02%;和 74. 39%, 58. 54%;32. 93%, 28. 05% in the groups of puresurgical operation. The groups of Traditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu were obviously better than the groups of pure surgical operation on the survival rate and the recurrence rate within 3 and 5 years , CHILD C, ICGR15, but the differences of between the two groups were no obvious within 1 and 2 years , AFU, TSGF. Cone I us i onsTraditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu could increase the long-term survival rate, improve the remaining of hepatic function and lower the level of AFU and TSGF in the blood, but have no difference in nearly period of the survival rate and the recurrent rate. The concrete mechanism needed the further research still.Key words: Hepatocellular carcinoma;Recurrence and metastasis;Survival rate;Traditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu;Traditional Chinese MedicineChapter 3: Experience researchObjectiveTo investigate the apoptosis of metastasis hepatocellular carcinoma byTraditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu.MethodsMaking high and low metastatic models of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)in thirty-fine nude mice(MHCC-97) and were randomly divided into five groups;they were the Chinese herbal medicine of high metastatic potential group..the control of high metastatic potential group, the Chinese herbal medicineof low metastatic potential group> the control of low metastatic potentialgroup and the blank control group. Observing and analyzing thedifferences , what were Traditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu on metastaticmodels of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in nude mice, among the formedtumor, the formed metastasis, tumor body weight , the long and short path of tumor, the volume of tumor, hepatic lobes involved with metastasis , anatomic site involved in metastasis, the biggest diameter of tumor at incisal margin and the percentage of apoptosis of cells. ResultsThe Chinese herbal medicine of high metastatic potential group, the control of high metastatic potential group, the Chinese herbal medicine of low metastatic potential group and the control of low metastatic potential group were all 100% in the form of tumor and also all 100% in the form of metastasis, but the blank control group of all nude mice were no growth on tumor naturally. Tumor body weight(g) were 0.31+0.24, 0.56+0.36, 0.66+0.46, 0.87 + 0.17 respectively;the volume of tumor(mm3) were 212.66 + 175.84, 534.34 + 438.09, 0.69+0.50, 19. 12 + 18. 25 respectively;hepatic lobes involved with metastasis were 2. 00+1. 10, 5.33 + 3.44, 2.00+0.89, 2. 67 + 0. 82 respectively;anatomic site involved in metastasis were 2.33+0.52, 5.33+1.37, 3.33+1.03, 5.50 + 1.05 respectively;the diameter(cm) of tumor at incisal margin were 2.58 + 0.88, 5.34 + 2.61, 0.51+0.23, 0.76+0.18 respectively and the percentage of apoptosis of cells were 4. 20+1.01, 9.62 + 2.44, 11.72 + 2.44, 16.52 + 3.11 respectively. Cone I us i onsTraditional Chinese Medicine-Jianpihuayu could induce apoptosis of high and low metastatic cells of HCC (MHCC-97), particularly for high metastatic cells and also inhibit distant metastasis, but can not prevent the HCC from relapsing.
