Objective: To study liver volume with 16-slices Spiral CT before and after the operation,to estimate the value of the volumetric studies in hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma.Material and Methods: Conventional CT scans with contrast material enhancement were performed in 50 patients undergoing hepatocellular carcinoma before operation.Volumetric studies were performed with use of axial data obtained during CT examination, For each patient volumetric date concerning the entire liver, the resected liver ,and the estimated postoperative liver were obtained. In 24 patients, the volumes of the resected specimens were measured by means of water displacement.Re-CT scan performed in 19 patient after operation and the remaided liver volume were measured. To compare the Preoperative's and postoperative's C-P grade of liver function.Statistics the data of volumetric studies and C-P grade of liver function with SPSS13.0.Results:The mean estimated liver volume±SD was 1266.90±119.90cm3. The mean entire liver±SD was 1488.02±517.36cm3, Paired-t test was used to assess the difference between them has statistically significance(P=0.003).There were 33 entire livers more than the estimated livers,17 entire livers less than the estimated livers. Paired-t test between the entire liver measured with use of 2mm and 8mm layer thick axial data has no statistically significance(P>0.05).The mean of the resected specimens measured by means of water displacement in 24 patients±SD was 511.88±509.07ml, the mean of the resected liver of these 24 patients±SD was 530.72±541.75cm3,Paired-t test between them has no...
