| Forces as a 'drug' being used by orthodonic doctors are key factors in the orthodonic treatment. When the mechanical loading applied to the teeth, it will induce bone rebuilding, such as alveolar bone, bony suture and articulatio mandibularis. Recent years studies indicate that the key factors in bone resorption by osteoclasts are RANKL and OPG, which are expressed on the cell membrane of osteoblasts.Osteoclasts are inertia cells, whereas osteoblasts are major effector cells in bone formation process. The differentiation and maturate of osteoclasts are mainly regulated by osteoblasts. The change of osteoblasts in the different estrogen level, which is significant guidance to orthodonic doctors confronted with female orthodonic patient. Therefore, combined effects of estrogen and mechanical loading on osteoblasts have been important research aspects in odontoplasty. At present, there have some reports about the pathophysiology change of induction on osteoblasts by estrogen and mechanical loading, however, the combined effects mechanism of estrogen and mechanical loading in regulation of bone rebuilding by osteoblasts is unclear. Methods: osteoblast-like cells were cultured in F-12 with 10% FBS for 48 hours and starved in F-12 with no FBS for 12 hours, then the cells were treated with estrogen(10-7M,10-10M) for 24h, subsequently the cells... |
