Objectives: To study the effect of Integripetal rhodiola herb (IRH) on TGF-β1 mRNA express, evaluate the inhibitory effect of IRH on pulmonary fibrosis and the mechanism.Materials and Methods: Thirty SD rats were divided randomly into fibrosis, control and treatment groups. In the model group and the treatment group, pulmonary fibrosis was reproduced by intratracheal injection of bleomycin (BLM). In the normal control group, normal saline was given intratracheally. IRH was administered intragastricly from day 2 till day 28 after modeling with a dose of 0.21g/kg in the treatment group, while the normal saline was given intragastricly in other groups. On the 29th day, rats were sacrificed. Lung index was measured. Hematoxylin-eosin staining (HE) and collagen staining were undertaken respectively after lung tissue was made into paraffin slices and tissue microarray slices. Lung inflammatory cell nucleuses count and integrated optical density (IOD) of the collagen fiber were tested by computer-assisted image analysis. The degrees of pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis were judged by the same method. Expression of TGF-β1 mRNA was tested by real time quantitative PCR.Results:The lung index in treatment group (0.011±0.008) was no significant...
