Objective: This research investigated the way the Heidenhain stain is used to detect the early stages of acute myocardial ischemia changes in humans, for the propose of offering the morphological evidence and objective index in forensic pathological diagnosis. Methods: Forty-eight cases of human myocardial tissue, which were diagnosed as coronary heart disease by forensic autopsy and pathological detection, were studied by the ways of HE stain, Heidenhain stain and HBFP stain separately by light microscopy technology. Result: The myocardial ischemia muscle was stained by Heidenhain and HBFP. Within 7 hours, the longer the myocardial ischemia time was, the wider the morphological changes were distributed. However, the HE stain was not as effective as the Heidenhain stain and the HBFP stain. Conclusion: Early myocardial ischemia could be dyed with Heidenhain stain. Compared with HE stain and HBFP stain, Heidenhain stain was more specific, more stable, cheaper and easier to use. It should be taken universally as the first method to be chosen in the diagnosis of early myocardial ischemia.
