Objective: To investigate the relationship of endogenous interlukin-11(IL-11) level and circulating platelet (PLT)counts and to explore the synergism of IL-11 and thrombopoietin(TPO) in patients with thrombocytopeniaMethods Levels of endogenous IL-11 and platelet counts were detected in 110 patients with thrombocytopenia and 20 healthy volunteers(normal controls) by using a sandwich- ELISA procedure and automatic hemocytoanalyser. 40 acute leukemia patients diagnosed for the first time were enrolled in the study and divided into two groups at random. GroupA(20cases) accepted rhIL-11 therapy when platelet count dropped below 20×10~9/L after chemotherapy while groupB(20cases) didn't as a blank control group. Serum TPO levels and c-mpl levels of the two groups and 20 healthy volunteers(normal controls) were determined by ELISA and RT-PCR. Results: 1. The endogenous IL-11 levels in patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) were significantly increased in these patients; The endogenous IL-11 levels in second thrombocytopenia(ST) were slightly higher than normal (except aplastic anemia ); The endogenous IL-11 levels in patients with aplastic anemia were lower than normal.2. there was a inverse correlation between serum IL-11 levels and circulating platelet counts in ITP.3.Serum TPO level and c-mpl level: There was no...
