PurposeTo find a new simple and pragmatic indicator for the diagnosis and judgment of the prognosis of IgA Nephropathy by multiparameter analysis of IgA deposits using computerimaging analysis system.MethodsThe numerical density of mesangial cells, the numerical density, area density, axial ratio,average optical density and integral optical density of IgA deposits in 80 kidney biopsy samples of IgA Nephropathy were analyzed by computer imaging analysis system of Motic Med 6.0, after routine staining of renal samples and immunohistochemistry staining. The correlation were analysed between the morphologic parameters of IgA deposits and clinicopathologic indicators of the age of onset, course of the disease, Lee' grading, percentage of glomemli sclerosis, degree of pathological changes of tubulointerstitial lesions and numerical density of mesangial cells.ResultsThere were positive correlations between numerical density of deposits and the age of onset or course of the disease, and the same with area density. However, there was a negative correlation between axial ratio and age. The numerical density and area density rised up with Lee's grading(P =0.005, 0.035), but there was no significant difference between grade III and grade IV (P =0.984) . There was significant difference between every grade with regard to axial ratio (P=0.04) , while no difference with average optical density (P =0.133) .The integral optical density rised up with Lee's grading (P =0.000) , and got the lowest value at grade â…¡.The numerical density of deposits rised up with the degree of the percentage of...
