PrefaceAtherosclerosis (AS) is a kind of frequently occurring disease which threatens the health of human severely. The recent studies have showed that apoptosis plays an important role in physiological and pathological of atherosclerosis. It is verified that the members of the TNF family: TNF-a and FasL take parts in the development of the atherosclerosis. As the new member of the TNF family-TNF related induced apoptosis ligand (abbreviation:TRAIL) few reports about relationship between apoptosis induced by TRAIL combined with death receptors and atherosclerosis are seen . This experiment replicated the atherosclerotic rabbit model by means of cholesterol-fed and endothelial injury on ventro- aorta by balloon The aim of this study is to explore whether TRAIL and death receptor-5 take parts in the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis and wether atorvastatin could modulate the extent and area of atherosclerosis by decreasing apoptosis induced by TRAIL combined with death receptors in the atherosclerosis rabbitsMethod20 rabbits were randomly distributed into 3 groups:control group, atherosclerosis group and atorvastatin roup. There are six rabbits in...
