Sulfamezine(SM2) is synthetic bacteriostatic drug, widely used in animal husbandry and as feed addictives. As a result, food derived from animals treated with SM2 may be contaminated with the drug, and will influence human health, cause allergic reactions, and could result in resistance in pathogenic organisms because of the extensive use of SM2.To safeguard the public health, many countries and organizations have established the Maximum Residues Limits(MRLS) of 100μg/kg or even none. Toxicity analysis of SM2 in animals was performed in inbred Kun Ming mice, using the traditional toxicological method based on thirty-days-feeding test, micronuclear test and sperm abnormality test. The objectives of this paper were to study SM2 residues in the pork and beef sold in markets of ya'an city by ELISA in order to show whether exist extensive use of SM2 in ya'an city. The results of the paper indicate :(1 )In thirty-days-feeding test,SM2 has no significant effect on the body weight because the body weight have no significant difference in treatment groups and control group. SM2 has toxicity in heart and intestine by analysis of Organ Coefficient BU of the treatment groups and ALT of the low group compared with normal control group, the differences are significant(P<0.05),so SM2 has toxicity in liver and kidney. And the detection of pathohistology also show that SM2 has toxicity in kidney. Negative result was observed from the experiments of micronuleus test of bone marrow cell. Sperm abnormality test show that the rate of abnormal sperms in the treatment groups...
