Objective :In this study , regression equations (prediction equations) were established for the purpose of accurately predicting the mesiodistal widths of the crowns of unerupted lateral incisors .canines and premolars during the early mixed dentition . Methods: 200 single side plaster casts of both jaws (148 male. 52 female ) were collected from wannan medical college students who were selected randomly by normal teeth, occlusion, over jet ,and over bite. The mesiodistal diameter etc. indexes of the crowns of the central and lateral incisors ,canine ,both premolars and first permanent molars were measured by vernier caliper (0.02mm). They were statistically analyzed in multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results: A series of regression equations were derived from the measurement results by which the widths of lateral incisor and the sums of the widths of the crowns of lateral incisor ,canine and both premolars can be predicted with the indexes of central incisor and firs permanent molar in different jaws and sexes .Conclusions: During early period of the mixed dentition, the widths of crowns of unerupted lateral incisor and the sum of widths of crowns of unerupted lateral incisor ,canine and both premolars can be predicted for anahsis of dentition space .
