Objective To evaluate the feasibility and safety of lung volume reduction by trans-bronchial 75% alcohol and lipiodol suspl injection. Methods 37 healthy adult rabbits were divided into six groups randomly. Group A received 75% alcohol and lipiodol suspl injection (n=8) , group B 75% alcohol and lipiodol suspl injection by large dose (n=5), group C absolute alcohol and lipiodol suspl injection (n=6), group D pure lipiodol (n=8), group E bronchial lumen occlusion(n=5); group F was put into negative control. After selectively lobar or segmental bronchial catheterization of balloon-tipped occlusion catheter, corresponding medicine injection was performed. Before extubate, balloon-tipped catheter was in occlusion to bronchus for 30-60 minutes and medicine probably kept in bronchus was drawn out. As to group E, bone cement was lastly used to occlude the bronchial lumen before extubate. And only balloon-tipped catheter occlusion to bronchus happened on group F.All animals were followed up for 1d,1wk,3wk,6wks and 10wks by chest X-ray and CT, then the whole lungs were harvested, photographed radiographed and examinated histologically at lOwks.Result â‘ general state of health: death or serious complication did not happened on group 75%alcohol and lipiodol suspl injection, group pure lipiodol and group negative control. But there were 1 case,2cases,1 case died respectively in group alcohol and lipiodol suspl injection by large dose, group absolute alcohol and lipiodol suspl...
