Objective The modified Ashworth scale, the Fugl-Meyer scale and the modified Barthel index were used to measure function of stroke patients and evaluate the influence of early rehabilitation intervention on spasticity activities of daily living(ADL) and motor function in acute stroke patients with hemiplegia .Two evaluations were done in admission( 1-21 days)and after six months .Design Prospective, randomized and controlled trial. The department of Neurology and Rehabilitation in the First Affiliated hospital of Anhui Medical University and patients' home. Patients Men and women aged 40 -80 with hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke consecutively admitted, which were confirmed by computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging from December 2001 to February 2005 were chosen.. Sample inclusion criteria in our study were as fellows: admission to our study ,the course of disease was less than three weeks, no history of prior stroke ,Accelerate hypertension ,severe disease of lever , renalinadequacy ,congestive cardiac failure, malignant tumor ,the history of amentia orpsychosis , deaf mute were excluded .All patients were willing to sign informed consent, they must have stable vital signs in 48 hours and limbs disturbance. 100 patients were randomized into two groups :one control groups and one rehabilitation group. Method :100 patients were randomly divided into two groups , rehabilitation group(50 cases) and control group (50 cases) . Patients in the rehabilitation group were given clinical treatment and regular rehabilitation training, while those in control group were given clinical treatment and unguided self - training. The evaluation was done in pre -treatment and post -treatment after 6 six months respectively. Result: The common datas, ADL scores, motor scores and spasticity scores have no significant difference in the two groups pre-treatment (p>0.05) , Though the scores of ADL and FMA intwo groups were improved after six months treatment , the scores in the rehabilitation group were...
