A Study Of Three Types Of Metal Ceramic Restoration On The Color Difference

In virtue of good function , handsome color and persistent firmness, the metal ceramic restoration has been one of the widely used means in clinical restoration. How to recur the color of natural human teeth is an issue concerned by both dentists and patients. However, there are many factors affecting final restored effect. They include preparation of abutment, fired condition, different porcelain, different based crown and thickness of porcelain layer. With the advance of new dental materials, Auro-galvano-crown and noble metal porcelain crown are applied. Therefore, nichrome metal porcelain crown will be faced with a large challenge. Color differences have been found between the shade guide and metal ceramic restorations in clinical work. CIE₁₉₇₆ L^*a^*b^* color system and a digital camera and computer were selected to measure and compare characteristic of VITA shade guide and three types of metal ceramic restorations and those of repeated firings.
