Objective: To evaluate the value of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) in endometriosis (EM) patients'peritoneal fluid (PF) and serum.., and to approach its role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis .Methods: The subjects were 35 patients with endometriosis , and collect their peritoneal fluid and serum samples. Among with 17 in proliferative phase and 18 in secretion phase . According to American Fertility Society (R-AFS): there were 2 in stageⅠ, 10 in stageⅡ, 17 in stageⅢ, 6 in stageⅣrespectively. The values were evaluated for associations with clinical-pathological features . There were 35 patients with dermoid cyst as the control group , and collect their peritoneal fluid and serum samples before operation .The COX-2 lever in samples were determined by Enzyme-linked immunoabsordence Assay (ELISA). To seek difference between the tow group. Results: 1. The COX-2 lever of peritoneal fluid and serum in patient and control groups . The COX-2 lever of peritoneal fluid in patient group, The range is 5.72-11.09ng/ml, mean is 8.14±1.56ng/ml . The COX-2 lever of serum in patient group , The range is 1.06-1.83ng/ml, mean is 1.43±0.26ng/ml.The lever of COX-2 in peritoneal fluid with control group , The range is 0.86-1.78ng/ml , mean is 1.46±0.29ng/ml ;And the range is 0.91-1.83ng/ml , mean is 1.42±0.33ng/ml respectively in serum with control group .There were significant difference of COX-2 lever in peritoneal fluid between two groups (P<0.05). There were significant difference of COX-2 lever in peritoneal fluid and serum within patient group(P<0.05) . There were no significant difference of COX-2 lever in serum between two groups(P>0.05).
