Objective To investigate the expression of costimulatory molecules OX40 and OX40L in patients with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) and explore their possible significance.Method 34 HSP patients as research objects were devided into two groups: the first group is 12 Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) patients; the second is 22 NO-HSPN patients and the Control is 20 health children. Applying reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technique, use PHA, anti-CD40LmAb, anti-OX40LmAb and Dex as intervention to quantitatively analyze OX40mRNA and OX40LmRNA expression on PBMC (peripheral blood mononuclear cells). Relation between OX40mRNA, OX40LmRNA and some clinical information analyze were also analyzed. Results Compaired with normal controls, the expression of OX40mRNA and OX40LmRNA both increase obviously in HSP especially in HSPN. The expression of OX40mRNA and OX40LmRNA in all objections both increase obviously especially in HSP after add in PHA and then decrease to normal after add in anti-CD40LmAb and anti-OX40LmAb. The pxpression of OX40mRNA and OX40LmRNA of the control in PBMC decrease little but decrease obviously in NO-HSPN and HSPN after add in Dex. Relation with clinical information: Expression of OX40mRNA and OX40LmRNA in all 34 patients with HSP has no significantly correlation with the level of IgA in the blood. The expression of OX40mRNA and OX40LmRNA of 15 patients with HSP whose urine microalbumin within 24 hours (24h UMA) is elevated are significantly higher than those...
