Research BackgroundEndometriosis is a common and popular gynecologic disease in women of the reproductive age and affected women often have a poor quality of life.Recently the incidence of endometriosis has been distinctly increasing and many experts have attended it.The Sampson's classical implantation theory has been extensively accepted, but countercurrent menstruation is the phenomenon at large and little women has been attacked. The theory can not explain it satisfactorily. The pathogeny and mechanism has not clarified until now. Many evidences have demonstrated that the success of the implant of ectopic endometrium is related to the adhesion, invasion and vascular formation of endometrium. So there is a new theory—vascular formation theory which obstetricians and gynecologists pay attention to.Recently the research discovered that tumor necrosis factor-α and vascular endothelial growth factor plays an important role in vascular formation .There is vascular formation in endometriosis, but the mechanism is not clear. Tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF-α ) is a kind of cellular factors which have vascular activity and is concerned with vascular formation in the process of the implant of ectopic endometrium. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) could effect vacular endotheliocyte specifically to spur the formation of new blood vessel. It plays an important role in the process of angiogenesis and development of endometriosis. Microvascular density (MVD) is the ration index of...
