In clinical practice, some patients with single tilted tooth choose angled post-core and crown after perfect root canal therapy to resume good appearance instead of the orthodontics treatment for the reasons of time, money or age et al. Angled post-core and crown is also used to restore tilted decayed tooth. In the previous studies, some scholars suggested that the angle shouldn't exceed 20° when post-core and crown was used to rectify the tilted anterior teeth, while the similar report of angled post-core and crown used to restore molars havn't been found yet. In this paper, the stresses on dentin and periodontium of mandibular premolar restored with post-core and crown at various angles were analysised with 3-D finite element method to guide clinical practice.AIM: To construct three-dimensional finite element models of mandibular second premolar restored with post-cores and crowns at various angles and investigate stresses distribution on dentin and periodontium of these models, and discuss the choice of tilted mandibular second premolar when it is restored with post-core and crown.Method: (1) Thin-layer CT technique combined with Matlab and Ansys -Worbench software were used to construct three-dimensional finite element...
