Background: Acute lung injury(ALI) is a known complication of severe head injury, which plays an important role in the high mortality of severe head injury. According to the research, the morbidity of acute lung injury secondary to severe head injury was about 20%~31%,and the mortality was about 38%~80%.To promote the nursing quality of lung injury secondary to severe head injury has important significance to the prognosis of severe head injury. The studies have demonstrated that the elevation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and cell adhesion molecules in lung play a central role in excessive inflammatory response of lung injury. To inhibit the produce of pro-inflammatory cytokines and cell adhesion molecules in lung is an important way to relieve or prevent the lung injury.Experimental studies have reported that aerosolized interferon-gamma can modify the pro-inflammatory cytokines in lung. However, few studies have reported whether the aerosolized interferon-gamma has effect on lung injury secondary to severe head injury by modifying the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines in lung. Objective:To study the effect and mechanism of inhaling interferon-gamma via aerosol on lung injury secondary to severe head injury. Methods: The model of severe head injury was established by local impact injury.Ninety male SD rats were randomly divided into six groups:normal group(NG), trauma group(TG),control group(CG),gentamycin group(GG) and Interferon-gamma(γ-I FN) group(IG), gentamycin plusγ-IFN group(MG).The rats in NG were not injured or inhaled; The rats in TG were injured but nothing inhaled; The rats in CG were injured and inhaled with normal saline via aerosol ; The rats in GG were injured and inhaled with normal saline plus gentamycin via aerosol; The rats in IG were injured and inhaled with normal saline plusγ-IFN via aerosol; The rats in MG were injured and inhaled with normal saline plus both gentamycin andγ-IFN via aerosol after injury. There were 4 rats in normal group and 18 rats in other groups in which 6 rats were sacrificed on day 1,day3,day7 respectively. The Pathomorphological changes were observed by light and...
