Objective: To evaluate the results of Nephron-sparing surgery for renal tumors.Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed for 66 patients who were affected by renal tumors and treated with Nephron-sparing surgery between August 1985 and July 2005.Among those patients,3 had bilateral tumors and Nephron-sparing surgery was performed twice. Results: Nephron-sparing surgery was done for absolute reasons in 10 patients, for relative reasons in 12 patients, and for elective reasons in 47 patients. 63 cases were treated with partial nephrectomy and 6 cases with enucleation. The renal vessel was clamped in 45 cases intraoperative. The histological subtype was clear cell carcinoma in 40 cases, papillary RCC in 2 cases, chromophobe RCC in 2 cases, angiomyolipoma in 24 cases, adenoma in 1 case.Surgical margins were negative in all cases. Seven patients had postoperative complications and no perioperative acute renal failure occurred. Among 44 cases with renal cell carcinoma, 42cases were followed for median(range) 44.6 (6.1-223)months and mean 59.8 months. At 5 years the overall and disease-free survival rates were 97.3% and 90.7%, respectively. Conclusions: Nephron-sparing surgery is an effective and safe operation...
