【Objective】To investigate whether concentrations of serum adiponectin constitute a significant acute myocardial infarction (AMI) risk factor, and the relation between serum concentrations of adiponectin and AMI,with particular focus on the serum adiponectin concentrations in AMI with diabetes mellitus (DM) patients.【Methods】By using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) methods, the fasting levels of serum adiponectin were measured in 28 patients with AMI accompanied with DM,33 patients with AMI accompanied without DM,25 patients only with DM,and 30 healthy subjects. the fasting plasma glucose (FPG), total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG) , LDL-C, HDL-C,and so on were measured simultaneously. At the time of a physical examination, age, sex, height, weight, body mass index(BMI),historys of smoking,AMI,hypertension, diabetes and the time of keeping on and the level of the control were assessed. All data are expressed as mean±SD. Categorical variables were compared by the [chi]2 test. Differences in the mean values between groups were compared by one way analysis of variance .Simple correlations between serum concentrations of adiponectin and the value of other parameters were examined by Pearson's coefficient of correlation. Correlations between AMI and all other parameters were analysed first by simple logistic regression analysis and then by multivariate analysis. Multivariate adjusted odds ratios are presented with 95% confidence intervals. Values of p < 0.05 were considered significant,p<0.01 were more significant.【Results】1. The serum adiponectinlevels were significantly lower in patients with AMI accompanied with DM than in patients with AMI accompanied without DM, patients only with DM,and healthy subjects[ AMI accompanied with DM group (3.98±1.39) mg/L, AMI accompanied without DM group( 7.14±1.73 )mg/L, patients only with DM( 7.50±1.84 )mg/L, healthy subject(s 10.83±1.95 )mg/L,respectively, P <0.01].The serum adiponectin levels were significantly lower in AMI accompanied without DM group and in patients only with DM than in healthy group[Both, P<0.01]. The levels of serum adiponectin in patients with AMI accompanied without DM were lower than in patients only with DM but not significantly[P=0.44]. 2. The serum adiponectin levels were significantly higher in women than in men([9.46±3.19)mg/L vs(6.67±2.54)mg/L ,P<0.01]. 3. The serum adiponectin levels were negatively correlates with BMI,FPG,TG,TC,LDL-c( r=-0.762,r=-0.694,r=-0.550,r=-0.525,r=-0.378) , and positively correlated with HDL-C (r=0.545). 4. The results of multi-factor stepwise regression analysis indicate there were an independent correlation between...
