Background & Objective: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy becoming more and more important in therapy of cervical cancer. We hope through detecting the effect and mechanism of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the prognosis in I b2- II a bulky cervical cancer to make it clear that the meaning of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in cervical cancer. Methods: A retro spective study was carried out on 100 patients with I b2- II a bulky cervical cancers adimitted to our hospital from 2001-2002. The effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on prognosis of 100 patients with bulky cervical cancer was analyzed. Using streptavidin-biotin peroxidase (sp) method to examine the protein expression of CyclinD1 and nm23H1 in these patients, and analyse the relationship between the protein expression and neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Results: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy could decrease the lymphatic metastasis and Cervical invasion. The 3-year relapse rate was significantly decreased in the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group compared with surgery alone, while the 3-year survival rate without significant difference. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy could decrease the protein expression of CyclinD1 and increase the expression of nm23H1.Conclusion: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is beneficial in improving the prognosis of patients with I b2- II a bulky cervical cancer. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy may improve the prognosis of patients through adjust the expression of CyclinD1 and nm23H1.
