Objective: To observe the protective effects of Shenfu injection on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury in cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB).Methods: Twenty patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass heart surgery were randomly divided into two groups, control group(C group,10 cases) and Shenfu group(SF group,10 cases). Before CPB, the SF groups was treated with SF 2ml/kg by intravenous injection. Blood samples were obtained after endotracheal intubation, after aortae intubation and 1/2h and 2h and 24h after opening aortae. Then to measure plasma levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD), maleic dialdehyde(MDA), creatine kinase isoenzyme MB(CK-MB), endothelin(ET) and prostaglandin I2(PGI2).Results: Activity of SOD were higher in SF group than control group at T4(p<0.05). Content of MDA in SF group was markedly lower than those in control group at T4 and T5(p<0.05) after myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury in SF group. CK-MB and ET level were normal before T2 and there was no significant difference between two groups. CK-MB and ET at T3 and T4 in SF group were lower than which in control group(p<0.05). Plasma CK-MB level peaked within1/2h after reperfusion and plasma ET level peaked within 2h after reperfusion. Plasma PGI2 level peaked at T2 and its level was significantly higher in SF group than those in control group(p<0.05) at same point. Conclusion: Shenfu injection have some protective effects on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury in open heart surgery during CPB.
