Objective: Peripheral nerve injury is a kind of common diseaseof hand surgery. Methods of repair of peripheral nerve injuriesprimarily include end-to-end neurorrhaphy, end-to-side neurorrhaphyand nerve graft, etc, but there is not still a suitable way for repair ofsome special cases like defect of proximal end of injured nerve. Withdevelopment of peripheral nerve plasticity research, we hope to utilizeperipheral nerve's plasticity to solve this question. Materials and methods: According to different places of nervesuture and whether or not use neurotrophic substance, 35 SD rats weredivided into five groups randomly, 7 each group. 24 weeks after theoperation, the general state of left anterior limb was observed andrecorded, including the nutrient state of forearm, the flexibility andharmony of the motion, the motion of the elbow joint, perimeter ofupper arm;the local state of the anastomosis including the appearanceof the nerve and the adhesion around the suture line was observedunder operative loop. The electrophysiological indicators includingthe latency and the amplitude of the evoked potential of the nervewere measured. The histological and morphometric evaluation of thebiceps brachii and the nerve specimens was also made, including:muscle wet weight,muscle fiber cross-sectional area and HE staining,acetylcholinesterase staining,HRP retrograde tracing of nerve. Results: After 24 weeks, the nutrient state the flexibility andharmony of the motion and rat's quantity of "grooming test" to 5 point,A,A1,B,B1 groups rats were better than C group;furthermore,muscle wet weight and muscle fiber cross-sectional area, A,A1,B,B1 groups rats were superior to C group(P<0.05). In A,A1,B,B1 groups, the nutrient state,the flexibility and harmony of the motionrat's quantity of "grooming test" to 5 point,degree of adhesion aroundthe suture line and arrangement condition of regenerative nerve fibersof distal end of anastomosis, A1,B1 groups were better than A,Bgroups, but there was no significant difference between A group and Bgroup;furthermore, the latency and the amplitude of the evokedpotential of the nerve,muscle wet weight muscle fiber cross-sectionalarea regenerative nerve fibers of distal end of anastomosis and motornerve fibers quantity of proximal end of anastomosis, A1 group wassuperior to A group, B1 group was superior to B group(P<0.05), butthere was no significant difference between A group and B group(P>0.05).Conclusion:1. If there is enough time, the way of anastomose the proximalend of sensory nerve and distal end of motor nerve can really recovermotor nerve function.2. VAP (Velvet Antler Peptide) can promote collaborate spoutingof nerve and accelerate nerve regeneration, enhance the quality ofregenerative nerve.3. As to some long period's experiments of sensory nerve "babysitting" delaying atrophy of denervated skeletal muscle, they can notillustrate the exact effect of sensory nerve delaying atrophy ofdenervated skeletal muscle in view of the influence of motor nervefibers.
