Objective To evaluate the expression of survivin and hTERT in gastric carcinomaand to reach the correlation between their expressions and variousclinicopathological parameters. Methods In this study, immunohistochemistry and real time quantitative PCRwere used to detect survivin and hTERT expression in 30 cases of samples .Results Survivin and hTERT expression in tumor on mRNA and protein levels areboth significantly higher than that in noncancerous gastric tissue. And there is nocorrelation between survivin expression in tumor on mRNA and protein levels andTNM stage, differentiation in gastric carcinoma, depth of invasion , as well as lymphnode metastasis. Also, hTERT expression in tumor on mRNA and protein levels didnot correlate with TNM stage, differentiation, depth of invasion and lymph nodemetastasis. Conclusion The level of survivin and hTERT expression was significantly higherin gastric cancer tissue than in noncancerous gastric tissue. No relationship wasfound in this study between survivin and hTERT expression and TNM stage, differentiation in gastric carcinoma, depth of invasion , lymph node metastasis. Theseresults indicate that increased survivin and hTERT expressions begin in the earlystages of gastric carcinogenesis. And they appear to be new effective and sensitivemarkers to diagnose gastric cancer in early stage.
