The human body is regarded as a complex system in Traditional ChineseMedicine [TCM]. Based on the whole concept, it helps us to know a majority ofinformation about health condition through pulse palpating with variablepressure. But because the pulse is feeble, and in Traditional Chinese Medicine,the pulse signal information supplied by the patients can only be obtainedthrough the feeling of figures. As a result, the pulse diagnosis is difficultto understand and is hard to be accepted in clinical application. The diseaseresearch in modern medicine emphasize particularly on the pathological changesof organizational structure instead of the system affiliation of overallfunctions and the observation of all complex and correlative factors in the bodysystem. So the objective study of Traditional Chinese Medicine pulse issignificant to develop the Traditional Chinese Medicine theory further and toimprove the clinical treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine.The dissertation considers the human body as a complex system. First excitethe pulse with unchanged input and detect the body system's output caused bythis input. Then the pulse of the health body and the heart disease body willbe objective according to the character of different pulse signals. Thedissertation is the exploratory research. Author uses Visual Basic6.0development environment in Windows operation system. The database is setup forsaving different information revealing the health condition of patents. TheTime-frequency analysis method is also used to study the characters of the pulsesignal in time-frequency distribution and ration of power and energy. Theresearch discovered that, the pulse energy is focused on the main wave withfrequency bellows 5 Hz, the pulse energy above 5 Hz is just some part of thewhole energy;the frequency range of the ill pulse is wider than the normal,the band wide of the high frequency part of the ill pulse is larger. In orderto improve the reliability of objective diagnosis, the dissertation also studiedthe threshold analysis methods basing on wavelet transform. This method is usedto de-noising pulse signal. The feature extraction method of pulse signal ismade by using wavelet maximum modulo.
