Objectives: To investigate the clinical value of serum Macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha(MIP-1α) and Eotaxin determination in respiratory adenoviral infection of children. Methods: Collect the serums of children patients in Pediatric, patients of AdV -IgM positive by ELISA are selected into AdV -infection group. The levels of serum MlP-1α and Eotaxin in 27 AdV -infection patients, 20 non- AdV infection and 20 normal volunteers were detected by ELISA.Results: The levels of MlP-1α and Eotaxin in AdV -infection group were significantly higher than those in non- AdV infection and normal groups(p<0.05). There was no significance difference between non- AdV infection group and the normal group. In non- AdV infection group and the normal group, there was no correlation between MlP-1α and Eotaxin. Conclusions: In conclusion, MIP-1α and Eotaxin can be used as a useful index to diagnose the serious respiratory adenoviral infection in children. There was no correlation between MlP-1α and Eotaxin, maybe they have different mechanism.
