| ObjectiveFormaldehyde is one of the major indoor pollutants, the health effects offormaldehyde are irritating to eyes, nostril and upper respiratory mucous liningand allergic, mutation, carcinogenic and its damage to reproductive, nerve andimmune systems. In order to elucidate the effects of formaldehyde on blood andhemopoiesis system, some indexes were detected including effects offormaldehyde on weight of spleen, the activity of IL-2, the cell cycle and thecell apoptosis of BMC cell, DNA damages of BMC, MN of BMC, CFU-F ofBMC, number of bone marrow karyote and peripheral blood cells.Methods48 healthy KunMing mice were purchased from animal center of XinMinMinistry JiLin University. Body weight of the mice is (15±2)g. The mice wereclassified into control group , formaldehyde exposed group and positive controlgroup. The exposed dose was 21.0mg/m3 (1/24LC50), 42.0mg/m3 (1/12 LC50)and 84.0mg/m3 (1/6 LC50). 6 male mice and 6 female mice were selected intoevery group.Mice from exposed group inhaled different concentration offormaldehyde at 2h/d, 6d/w for 12w. Mice in control group inhaled air. Mice inpositive control were injected with CP consecutively for 5d.Mice in positivecontrol were injected with cyclophosphamide(50mg/kg)in belly. Weight ofspleen, the activity of IL-2, the cell cycle and apoptosis the of BMC cell, theDNA damages of BMC, MN of BMC, CFU-F of BMC, number of bonemarrow karyote and peripheral blood cells. The data were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 and the results were demonstratedas x ± s.Statistics analyses of quantitative data were conducted using Tanalyses.Results1. Effects of formaldehyde on weight of spleen in mice: The spleenweights in mice from each group were no significant differences (p>0.05).2. Effects of formaldehyde on the activity of IL-2: The activity of IL-2from mice in middle and high dose group were significantly lower than controlgroup (p<0.01).3. Effects of formaldehyde on cell cycle and apoptosis of BMC in mice:The cell cycle and apoptosis of BMC in mice from each group were nosignificant differences (p>0.05).4. Effects of formaldehyde on DNA damages of BMC in mice: The DNAdamages of BMC were no significant differences between mice fromformaldehyde exposed groups and mice from control group (p>0.05).5. Effects of formaldehyde on MN of BMC in mice: The MN in mice fromeach group were significant differences (p<0.01).6. Effects of formaldehyde on CFU-F of BMC in mice: The CFU-F inmice from each group were no significant differences (p>0.05).7. Effects of FA on number of bone marrow karyote in mice: The numberof bone marrow karyote in mice from each group were no significantdifferences (p>0.05).8. Effects of FA on peripheral blood cells in mice: The peripheral bloodcells in mice from each group were no significant differences (p>0.05).ConclusionResults from the present research showed that long-term exposure toformaldehyde could cause the decreasing of activity of IL-2 in spleen Tlymphocytes and MN of BMC were declined. But BMC and peripheral bloodcells of experiment were on significant differences, suggesting thatformaldehyde can not affect the blood and hemopoiesis system in mice. |
