Objective: To evaluate galvanic corrosion tendency of five dentalrestorative alloys.Method: The circuits of instantly different metallic contact weresimulated in three kinds of artificial saliva with different pH,andelectrical potential of every couple and galvanic currents of instantcontact were then measured. Results: the galvanic series of five kinds of alloys as follows:goldalloy, titanium,Co-Cr alloy, none-zinc amalgam, zinc-containingamalgam. gold/Co-Cr alloy produced the significantly higher currentthan other couples(P<0.05). The currents produced by couples of puretitanium/ zinc-containing are significantly lower than othercouples(P<0.05). Couples of proximal potential difference in acidsolution produced the significantly higher current than the samecouples in neutral or alkaline solution (P<0.05). Conclusion: goldalloy, titanium have excellent corrosion resistance. It is dangerous toapply gold/pure titatium in clinic.Couples of pure titanium/Co-Crcan coexist in oral due to its lowest current. It conduce to reduce thedegree of galvanic corrosion that pH value of artificial saliva wasadjusted to alkalinity or neutrality.
