The Effect Of Etching Concentration On The Bond Strength Of The Light-cured Resin Reinforced Glass Ionomer Cement

ObjectiveTo compare the shear strength of a light — cured resin reinforced glass ionomer cement after the enamel was etched with different etching concentration .Methods60 extracted human first maxillary premolars were randomly divided into 6 groups(A,B,C,D,E,F) of 10 teeth eath group. Group A : composite resin/37 %/dry;Group B: RMGIC/0/dry;Group C :RMGIC/10%/ dry;Group D :RMGIC/37%/dry;Group E :RMGIC/37%/wet with water;Group F : RMGIC/self—etching/dry. All specimens were bathed with a artificial saliva after bonding 10 minutes for 24 hours, then the shear strength was tested. The teech and brackets were examined under x2 magnification. Any adhesive remaining after bracket removal was assessed with a modified Adhesive Remain Index(ARI).Results1. The shear bond strengthThe mean shear bond strength ,of group A was 14. 786 ± 4. 940Mpa,of group B was 0 Mpa,of group C was 7. 002 + 3. 768Mpa,of group D was 7. 879 + 3. 013 Mpa;of group E was7. 452 + 2. 561 Mpa, of group F was 7. 406 + 2. 407Mpa. Significant differences didn't exist between the various group C,D,E,F. Significant differences presented between the group A and other groups.2..ARIIn group A,the count of ARI=0 was 5,of ARI = 1 was 5;in group B, the count of ARI = 0 was 10,;in group C, the count of ARI = 0 was 1, ARI = 1 was 1, ARI = 2 was 3 ,ARI = 3 was 5;in group D, the count of ARI = 2 was 3,of ARI = 3 was 7;in group E,the count of ARI=1 was 3, ARI = 2 was 2,ARI = 3 was 5 , in group F,the count of ARI = 1 was 2, ARI = 2 was 2,ARI = 3 was 6 .Significant differences didn't exist between the various groups.ConclusionsIn this study , after the enamel was etched with different etching concentration, significant differences didn't exist between the shear strengths of RMGIC of the various groups. Significant differences didn't exist between the shear strengths of RMGIC,after the enamel was etched with lower etching concentration or wetting with water. After the enamel was etched with different etching concentration, significant differences didn't exist between the ARI of the various groups.
