Objective: To investigate the change and influence of aging on distortion-product otoacoustic emissions amplitudes in normal hearing adults whose age is at different stages, and to discuss the meaning that DPOAE diagnose presbyacusis. Method: 42 cases were measured , without hearing disorder history, ranging in age from 20 to 60 years, through pure tone audiometer and acoustic-immittance-measurement, 40cases(80ears)are measured through distortion-product audiograms whose hearing is normal. Result: DPOAEs were recorded in 100%. All ears'hearing thresholds≤20dBHL,their tympanograms all show A type. when compared to emissions among different segments of age, there are significant difference in DPOAE amplitudes in high frequency(2~6kHz). while there are not gender difference. Conclusion: With the increase of age, there are a decrease tendency of DPOAE amplitudes, especial at high frequency. DPOAE is able to diagnose early presbyacusis patients who possess normal hearing but have existed cochlear lesions.
