The plant of Euonymus, which is distributed widely in the world, belong to an important natural officinal resource and has been used to treat with tumor, inflammation, bacterial et al for thousands of years as Chinese folk medicine in our country. In this paper, the chemical constituents from Euonymus hederaceus were phytochemically investigated. 14 compounds were isolated from this plant and the structure of 9 compounds was determineted, among them, 6 compounds is friedelin-type triterpenoids and 3 is olean-type triterpenoids, this work includes:1. A new triterpenoid was isolated and its structure was established as 28-hydroxy-friedelin-3-one-29-acid (compound 1) on the basis of spectral evidences in combination with the reported data in literature.2. Five known friedelin-type triterpenoids were isolated and the structures were identified with the help of spectral evidences and literature data. They are 3-friedelone, 3-oxo-28-friedelanal, 28-hydroxy-3-friedelanone, 30-hydroxy -3-friedelanone, and 29-hydroxy-3-friedelanone, respectively.3. Three known olean-type triterpenoids were isolated, and the structures were identified with the help of spectral evidences and literature data. They are 3β-methoxyolean-11-oxo-18-ene, Olean-12-ene -3, 11-dione, 28-hydroxyolean-12-ene-3, 11-dione, respectively. In addition, the relationship of NMR data-structural characteristics of friedelin-type pentatripenoids were summarized.
