Alzheimer's disease is one kind of degenereratly neuropathis disease, which has the characters of clinical and pathological. It is obscure about pathogenesis and etiology. We study the pathogensis of AD from the angle of traditional Chinese medicine science. We think that the pathogenesis of AD is insufficiency of the kidney and is phlegm-damp and stagnant blood clogging aperture, which is the syndrome of difficiency in origin and excess in superficiality. The occurrence of AD correlates with many elements, but Chinese herbal medicine emphaisize unification and balance of whole, and treat complex syndrome, which shows unique superiority. In view of the superiority and the pathogenesis of AD, we changed acient prescription —Rehmannia Decotion and formulated compound prescriptions. Male Wistar rats(n=140), weighed from 240-280g, were randomly deivided into seven groups, which included bland group, negative injury group, model group, Huperzine A tablets control group, Kangnaoshuai Jiaonang control group, low-dose and high-dose of modified Decoction of Rehmannia. Based on the D-semigalactors (D-gal), this experiment takes rats of which A β1-40 was injected into the hippocampi as the model animals. And their behavior science morphology, activity of AchE, MAO, GSH-Px and the expression of IL-1 α in their cerebral tissue was tested. The results show us:1. It can improve the behavioral function of the AD rats.2. It can decrease AchE levels and MAO levels in the AD rats' brain.3. It can improve GSH-Px levels in the AD rats' brain.4. It can improve the pathological change in the AD rats' brain.5. It can decrease IL-1 α levels in the AD rats' brain. This research concludes that modified Decoction of Rehinannia is...
