BaP is well known by its carcinogenesis. It is widely distributed in our environment. It's an important environmental pollutant which seriously threaten the people's health. It can enter the body through many ways and induce damages of many tissues and cells in the body. Its toxicity is associated with its metabolite. Liver is the main metabolism organ to BaP . So liver is the target organ to toxic effect by BaP. We used the techniques of toxicology and molecular biology to study the DNA damage and the apoptosis of liver cells in male mice induced by BaP. The results showed as follows: 1. The effects of BaP on DNA damages of liver cells DNA damage was observed with SCGE. There were significant differences between the exposure group and the control group(P<0.05). It indicated that BaP could induce the DNA damage of liver cells to some degree. 2,The effects of BaP on LPO in liver cells The activities of GSH-Px decreased in the exposure group compared with the control group(P<0.05), and with that in the increase doses MDA content increased gradually. These indicated that BaP could induce LPO in liver cells. 3. The effects of BaP on apoptosis of liver cells Dispersed apoptotic cells in liver tissues were observed in all of groups treated with BaP by hematoxylin-eosin dyeing, the plasm of these cells took on light red, the nuclei shrinked and took on dark blue. These suggested that BaP could induce apoptosis of liver cells. Liver cells were stained with AO/EB to assessing apoptosis . The results showed that the apoptotic rate of the groups treated with BaP was higher than...
