Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic, recurrent inflammation involving part or all of the colon and the rectum. It is difficult to eradicate ulcerative colitis. Retention enema is one of best treatments of ulcerative colitis. This study use Marzulene-S to retente enema for the objective of discover of a new drug for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. This research object and methods are as follows. OBJECT: This research collects from February of 1996 to February 2004 at my hospital digest's section out-patients and sickroom-patients of UC of having been diagnosed explicit as the research object, matching the following condition while examining a patient: 1. clinic 's performance is the lower abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, fecal urgency,etc..2. METHODS: 66 patients with UC were randomly divided into three groups include with Marzulene-S'group, Marzulene-S and Dexamethasone's group, Dexamethasone's group, each group were treated with Marzulene-S 2010mg, Marzulene-S 2010mg and Dexamethasone 5mg, Dexamethasone 5mg, one time every two nights, and using the physiology brine of 100 mls to retente enema. A course was 14 days, total courses was 2. Among them:The Marzulene-S 's group total 6, male 3, woman 3 example; the age from 18 to 69 years ;the average age 44 years .The Marzulene-S and Dexamethasone's group total 28 example, male 16, woman 12 ; the age from 20 to 69 years ; the average age 45 years .The Dexamethasone's group total 32, male 18, woman 14 example;The age from 18 to 68 years ; the average age 46 years .Curative effect standard: According to 1993 whole country chronic non-infected disease of bowel academic seminar curative effect standard[1]:Cure in the near future: thelower abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, fecal urgency, and other clinical symptoms shoud be disappear after two courses over, the fiber colon mirror replies the mucosa's check is normal. RESULTS: Lysis rate of abdominal pain, diarrhea, mucus stool, the total effective rate in Marzulene-S and Dexamethasone's group was markedly superior to Dexamethasone's group (P<0.05).And only use Marzulene-S is not superior to Dexamethasone's group (P<0.05). In useing Marzulene-S and Dexamethasone's process did not discover the bad reaction, and after 2 courses over ,this group has less patients seeking medical again to the other two groups.
