| Objective:1. To describe the survival rates and survival curves of patients with gastric stump carcinoma(GSC).2. To retro-analyze factors influencing the survival rates of patients with GSC.3. To discuss the importance of early diagnosis to improve the therapeutic results ofGSC .4. To explore the long-term outcomes of the surgical therapy in patients with GSC.Methods:1. Data collection: Collected 98 cases of patients with GSC being treated in our hospital from 1972-2004 by letters, telephones and outpatient following-up visits.2. Statistics Methods: All data were analyzed by SPSS 11.5. Survival was calculated according to life table method. Survival curves were compared by using the log-rank test.Results:1. The 1-,3-,5-year survival rates of patients with GSC were 54.7%, 23.5%, 11.1% respectively.2. The survival rates of the patients with GSC were significantly influenced by pathological types( χ~2=26.63,P<0.01), lymph-node metastasis( χ~2=51.27, P<0.01), stages by gastroscope (χ~2=14.04,P<0.01), PTNM stages(χ2 =15.50,P<0.01) and therapies(χ2 =112.02,P<0.01), but not by gender and tumor location.3. The 5-year survival rate was 100% for 7 patients with early clinical stage and 9.7% for 91 patients with advance clinical stage. The result reached statistics significantly( χ2 =14.04, P<0.01).4. The median survival rate was 36.1 months for 47 patients after radical resection, 14.8 months for 22 patients after palliative resection, 5.1 months for 5 patients after jejunostomy, 5.4 months for 7 patients after exploratory laparotomy, 5.7 months for 22 patients without surgical therapy. The survival rate of radical resection group was higher significantly than that of palliative resection group( χ2 =27.21,P<0.01). The survival rate of palliative resection group was higher significantly than that of non-resection group including jejunostomy cases and exploratory laparotomy cases ( χ2 =42.11,P<0.01). |
