Objective:By studying the profile of viral infectious diseases for 10 years' duration in Macau to provide the scientific basis for preventing these diseases and carry out eugenic policy. Methods:Using the serological methods to assay the specific antigens and antibodies of patients and subjects from Shandin(山顶) Hospital and Health Centers in Macau. For the markers of viral hepatitis A, B, C, D, E, TORCH, HIV and other viral diseases, ELISA was used to examine corresponding antibodies and antigens. We used RPR, TPHA and FTA-ABS to analyze the syphilis. With PCR we assayed the DNA of Chlamydia trachomatis and gonorrhea bacteria. The positive rates were estimated as percentage and chi-square were used for statistical analysis.Results:1) The rates of HAV IgG were 61.3%~76.6%. They were lower then that in province Guangdong (>90%). The rates of HAV IgM in 1993, 1994 and 1997 were 3.3%, 4.1% and 4.4% respectively, which were higher significantly than that in other years. (p=0.01 <0.05)2) The rates of HBsAg were 13.5%~18.5%. They were similar to that of Guangdong. The "small positivity" was twice times or more than the "great positivity". The rates of HBsAb were rather high, between 52.6%~59.3%.3) For HCV, the rates of antibody were 8.0%~25.0%. It showed that in drug abusers and criminals the anti-HCV rates were 85.3% and62.5% respectively which were higher significantly than others.(p=0.000<0.01).4) Anti-HDV could not be found.5) The rates of anti-HEV were 8.0%~16.0%6) The rates of anti-HIV were 0.1%~l.l%7) The corresponding antibodies and antigens of TORCH, Dengue fever, Measles and syphilis could be found. The rates of IgG against Rubella, CMV and HSV were higher than 80.0%Conclusions:1) In Macau pandemic of Hepatitis A developed in 1993, 1994 and 1997. The resistance against Hepatitis A in people of Macau is relatively lower than that in the continent. The HAV vaccination and control of water source must be strengthened in order to prevent Hepatitis A outbreak or pandemic.2) HBV infection of people in Macau is severe as well as in Guangdong, but HBsAb positive rate is high due to HBV vaccination for 10 years' duration. The patients with HBV infection or HBV carriers must be treated or be monitored. It isnecessary to perform HBV vaccination for all susceptible subjects for prevention of hepatitis B, cirrhosis of the liver and hepatic carcinoma.3) The severity of HCV infection in Macau could not be underestimated for controlling HCV infection; the injection route must be breakdown.4) There is hepatitis E endemic in Macau, by controlling water source we can avoid HEV pandemic.5) A great part of people in Macau are infected with Rubella virus, CMV, HSV (IgG>80.0%). The acute infection rates of TORCH in pregnant women are low, for these rates, we can not find any difference between general people and pregnant women. (p=0.805, 0.051, 0.0504, 0.092; X).O5)6) We must pay attention to the HIV infection because the rate of anti-HIV is not so low in Macau. The preventing measurements such as eliminating drug abusers and prostitutes must be adopted.
